Arctic SAU has determined its mission

Rector of the University Ivan Sleptsov today, April 16, signed an order according to which the educational institution determined its mission.

The mission of the Arctic State Agrotechnological University is “We work and study to improve the quality of life of people in the North”.

“We approached the choice of our mission with all responsibility, because a mission is a philosophy and a mission, the meaning of the organization’s existence. Our mission is saturated with love for our Motherland, respect for all people living in the difficult conditions of the North, ”the university noted.

Recall that by Order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation No. 187 dated April 10, 2020 “On renaming the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education“ Yakut State Agricultural Academy ”, the university received university status and its name is the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education“ Arctic State Agrotechnological University “.

The first international online conference in a new status as a University was held at ASAU

On April 14, an international online conference of the Arctic State Agrotechnological University and the Mongolian State Agrarian University took place.

The opening ceremony was attended by the rectors of two universities, the permanent official representative of the city of Ulan Bator in Moscow, Munchchulun Munchetsetseg and the representative of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexandra Ushnitskaya.

The rector of the Arctic GATU Ivan Sleptsov greeted the rector of the Mongolian State Agrarian University Herug Tumurbaatar, as well as other participants in the historical meeting and spoke in detail about the activities of the university.

In the second part of the international online conference, university rectors and participants in the meeting discussed a strategy for cooperation between universities.

Questions were raised about the exchange of experience in training agricultural specialists, attracting applicants from Mongolia to study undergraduate and graduate programs in the Arctic GATU, as well as about the organization of joint scientific and experimental work, about participation in grants, competitions, publication of a collection of scientific papers and development dissertation research, on holding a joint international scientific-practical conference.

ASAU international activities in the Arctic

University’s Department of International and Interregional Cooperation held negotiations with partners from Canada to participate in supporting and developing distance education programs in circumpolar sciences.
It was also proposed to create a new thematic network “Arctic Agriculture”, which will expand research links, create joint educational programs, and participate in academic mobility programs.
Thematic networks enhance the role of higher educational institutions of the North as creators, carriers and disseminators of knowledge about the Arctic and its remote regions.
Recall that in March 2020, the department of international and interregional cooperation of the university held an international interdisciplinary seminar in the framework of the Winter Arctic School on the topic “Arctic Food Security” with foreign students from Norway, Iceland, Poland and Finland.

Yakut State Agricultural Academy changed its status to University

On April 10, 2020, an order was signed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation to rename the Yakutsk State Agricultural Academy. Now the university has received the status of the University and will be called the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Arctic State Agrotechnological University”.

Thanks to the painstaking systemic work of the team, the Yakutsk State Agricultural Academy in 2017 became the basic organization of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation to train specialists in a new format for the traditional industries of the North, and today the Academy has become a University.

In 2019, according to the results of activities for 2018, in the ranking of universities that are subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the Academy ranked 1st among agricultural universities of the Far East and 32nd in Russia, increasing the rating by 20 points compared to 2017. Today, the University is faced with the task of becoming one of the leading universities under the jurisdiction of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.

The main goal of the new university will be to improve the quality of personnel training for the agro-industrial complex of the entire Arctic, to train and retrain professional staff who are competitive in the labor market and to develop advanced research technologies.

“Changes in the status and name of the university, first of all, are associated with the expansion of the training areas for specialists of the educational organization – we train not only specialists in the agricultural industry, but also in the forestry complex, land management, and housing and communal services. The university, which is the basic organization for the training of specialists for the traditional industries of the North, is faced with the task of becoming a center of Arctic agrarian education of an international level. We thank the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the native republic, personally the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Maxim Iosifovich Uvaidov and the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Aisen Sergeyevich Nikolaev for support and trust, ”commented Ivan Sleptsov, University Rector.

The project “Double diplomas” will be implemented in Yakutia

NKSU named after M. Kozybaeva and the Yakutsk State Agricultural Academy signed a bilateral memorandum. Double-degree students will receive diplomas from two universities.

Students and undergraduates of the Yakutsk State Agricultural Academy can study under the “Two Diplomas” program.

The delegation headed by the rector of the Yakut State Agricultural Academy Ivan Sleptsov arrived in Petropavlovsk. Ivan Ivanovich emphasized the importance of a bilateral agreement. He assured that the North Kazakhstan region is an agricultural region and that the priority is given to the training of qualified specialists.

– We are interested in the exchange of experience in the field of science. Today we signed an agreement to issue two diplomas to students. This will allow our students to receive a Kazakh diploma. I am convinced that this will give a new impetus to our development, ”he said.

The Yakut State Agricultural Academy is one of the largest universities in the north-east of Russia. It covers 5 regions of the Russian Federation. In the Republic of Sakha, 200,000 horses and the same number of deer are bred. Therefore, representatives of the delegation noted that the experimental base in the field of animal husbandry was strong. Students from Northern Kazakhstan study annually for one semester. Students from Yakutsk will come to Petropavlovsk for the same period. There is also an exchange of teachers with each other.

As part of the partnership, specialists in the fields of agriculture, livestock and economics will be trained. Potential applicants will be offered directions in which they can receive two diplomas. Students will study in a bilateral program for 4 years, says Altyn Shayakhmetova, Dean of the Agrotechnological Department of NKSU.

Victoria Andreeva came from Yakutia to Petropavlovsk for six months. She noted that the program he was studying had great potential.

– I study in the forest department. The climate is very similar to Yakutia. Therefore, we are not afraid of the cold. We have been reading for 6 months. We are going through an experiment. I’m sure it will be a breakthrough period for me, ”she says.
